Weddings + Man’s Best Friends
Let’s face it, the unconditional love and happiness we get from our pets (dogs, cats and even horses) is a love like no other. And when your fiance shares your obsession with your four-legged buddies, it’s even more important to incorporate your furry friends into your wedding celebration! I know personally, I would have loved to have our goofy golden retriever, Oliver, in our wedding. But we were a destination wedding, so we had to forgo this fun and the opportunity to bring him along! However, we did have him photobomb several engagement shots to at least document that milestone!

There are lots of ways to make sure your pets are included, from naming your signature drinks after them with a customized watercolor image on the bar menu to naming the whole bar after them with cute signage! There are all kinds of options on Etsy, but the one shown here was more original than many I have seen.
While well behaved dogs can serve as man’s “best man”, you can also hire someone from your vet or doggy daycare to transport your dog to your venue for “first look” shots and then return them home afterwards to relax. But when in doubt, use a foam core stand-in photo or even hilarious photo face masks in your photo booth for fun photo ops!
But if your pets are well behaved in crowded settings (and outdoors) and would happily wag their tail being guided down the aisle by a member of the wedding party, make sure you outift them for the day! Flower crowns work great for quick photos, but would be best converted to a collar for their walk down the aisle. And of course, many couples select formal wear collars and cuffs, dresses & tulle skirts, and even coordinating leashes from Etsy seller “House of Furbaby”! So darn cute!
If you decide to bring your dog or cat, to your wedding, just make sure you assign several people to take turns to keep them by their side and on leash, so everyone has time to dance and have fun. Be sure to pack a bag with their bowls for water breaks, dinner, some treats and those handy little bags to clean up their messes (most wedding planners do NOT clean up after pets… or guests for that matter!)
